Recently, Keith Barraclough, CTO of Next Issue, and Joe Simon, CTO of Conde Nast, sat down with ZDNet to discuss digital publishing.
As the tablet audience grows, so does the need for magazine publishers to push their magazines to digital. The vision of Next Issue is to become the destination for digital magazines. Barraclough explained: “The reason we’re here is to create a compelling, unified experience that the user can learn once and then consume all the different magazines within that environment.”
The Next Issue application is currently available for Android 7 and 10 inch devices and features interactive magazine editions optimized specifically for tablets. As Simon puts it: “Our feeling is that to get really immersive and interactive experience, its not just content. It’s a combination of content and technology.”
So far, the Next Issue application includes titles such as People, The New Yorker, Time, Popular Mechanics, Better Homes and Gardens and more. New titles are being added all the time.
