At the ripe age of 63, Tom Petty has no intention of backing down. In fact, after almost 40 years in the business, he and The Heartbreakers just hit #1 on the Billboard 200 for the first time.
And the surprises keep coming.
In the August 2014 issue of Men’s Journal, Petty reflects on a childhood wrought with abuse, his reluctance to become a frontman, and life as a self-proclaimed “cranky hippie.”
In the August 14, 2014 issue of Rolling Stone, we learn even more about Petty’s stubborn resilience (I mean, really, pulling a switchblade during a record-label meeting?).
What’s most remarkable—at an age when Petty could easily bask in his already-outstanding achievements (16 studio albums, 6 of which went platinum), he’s taking to the tour circuit once again. As a concert junkie, I knew I had to see him live. Enjoy firsthand footage of Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers at Outside Lands Music & Arts Festival in San Francisco.
