Bruce Jenner has revealed a new identity on the cover of next month’s Vanity Fair, posing as a woman for the first time.
Photographed by Annie Leibovitz for a 22-page cover story, Caitlyn Jenner speaks to the magazine about the challenges of her transition, opening up about a panic attack the day after her 10-hour facial-feminization surgery, and the reactions of her four eldest children.
Pulitzer Prize–winner and Vanity Fair contributing editor Buzz Bissinger spent time with both Bruce and Caitlyn in preparation for the story, and learned more about Jenner’s decision to film a docu-series for the E!, network. “‘Oh, she’s doing a stupid reality show,’” Caitlyn predicts people will say. “‘She’s doing it for the money. She’s doing this, she’s doing that.’ I’m not doing it for money. I’m doing it to help my soul and help other people. If I can make a dollar, I certainly am not stupid…You don’t go out and change your gender for a television show. O.K., it ain’t happening. I don’t care who you are.”
